Position Title: Network Engineer

Location: Brentwood Tennessee
Description:

Our client implements and supports networking solutions for clients primarily in the greater Nashville area. At this time they are seeking a Network Engineer to provide clients with the highest levels of technical skill and network consulting.  They are seeking someone to be involved in exploratory meetings with clients and then get involved with implementation projects.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pre-sales consulting and design
  • Implementation and integration
  • Maintenance and support
  • Providing technical guidance
  • Ensure strong relationships and communications
  • Clearly understand and document customer deliverables
  • Creating optimal solutions that meet client business requirements 
  • Meet standards for technical prowess, presence, and communication skills
  • Communicate with colleagues, management, customers, vendors, and others in a professional manner
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g. routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Provide Level 2 & 3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
     

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4+ years proven hands-on network engineering experience
  • CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued)
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g. IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools
  • University degree in Computer Science or a related subject preferred
  • Must communicate well both written and verbal

  • This position will require local travel to client sites. Our client encourages employees to pursue certifications and to do continuous learning. They will help employees compensate the costs for training and certification.
