Position Title: Applications Manager
Salary Range: Not specified.
Location: Nashville Tennessee
Description: Our client is seeking an Applications Manager.  In this role you will oversee a team that supports the warehouse management system, point of sales system, retail merchandising systems, and e-commerce sites.  In this role you will lead a team that installs and supports software applications and components as needed.

  • Support and enhance the programming modifications currently in the Sterling and WebSphere systems
  • Highest level of influence on end user and internal customer
  • Consults with colleagues concerning maintenance and performance of software systems
  • Analyzes business system specifications and develops logic flowcharts and test plans
  • Encodes programs, prepares test data, reviews logs, diagnoses problems, and tests/debugs software
  • Revises and updates programs as required. Provides necessary documentation
  • Creates and delivers data-driven reports as needed
  • Investigates and develops skills in new technologies
  • Develops/improves strategic processes and consults and transfers knowledge of skills
  • Sought as a resource for resolution of unique or complex business problems
  • Routinely reports project status to senior management Management of personnel responsible for integration and implementation of new technology
  • Accountability for budgeting, managing expenses, and employee development
  • System-wide/cross-functional team management
  • Lead subject matter expert, who guides direction and has authority to make project and team related decisions
  • Participate in architecture design. Make recommendations that improve efficiency, minimize cost and support future growth
  • Help analyze, troubleshoot, and tune applications. Work with Infrastructure team to solve performance and production issues
  • Manage integration challenges between applications

  • 5+ years of experience as a WebSphere Message Broker application developer or message similar message bus technology
  • 5+ years of experience providing Sterling OMS architecture solutions
  • 5+ years of experience hands on development in one or more Sterling Modules
  • 2+ years of experience managing a department
  • Proficient in IT technologies such as Structured Query Language (SQL), Extensible Markup Language (XML), XML Path language (XPath), Java/J2EE, JMS and JDBC, SOAP and WSDL, and industry standards for security
  • Experience with WebSphere MQ
  • Strong working knowledge of Web Services/SOA methodologies, technologies (e.g. JAX-WS, SCA, BPEL4WS) and tooling
  • Strong working knowledge of Oracle and/or Db2 databases
  • Strong working knowledge Unix, Linux, or AIX operating system
  • Knowledge of Eclipse
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel as communication tools
  • Must be well-organized, efficient, and detail-oriented. Able to prioritize and provide timely resolution to issues
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • On-call duty required. Some travel may be required.
  • ??????Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Systems

This a salaried position + bonus and great benefits.  Our client will relocate the right candidate to Nashville, TN.
